Concept Development
Early concept with rounded form with wheels on legs and a mechanical ‘Bump & Turn’ wheel that changes direction when bumping into something at the center.
Updated concept with a more solid and edged aesthetic. ‘Bump & Turn’ wheel placed at the back for the Crab to run backwards and show the time as the user chases it.
Concept with pair of back wheels and a front pair of legs. ‘Bump & Turn’ wheel at the front. The next shows concept with three pairs of leg with back wheel located inside the casing.
Refined concept with all parts in a more uniform and harmonious form.
Details
The Alarm Crab uses a mechanism called ‘Bump & Turn Wheel’ that redirects itself when it runs into an obstacle. This allows the Alarm Crab to keep on moving around the space with the alarm on until the user turns it off.
Material Detail
The claws and legs are made of TPR to be able to bend and absorb damage from bumping into objects.
